For years, Denaun has been on a transformative journey. Having shed his former alter ego, Kon Artis, the renowned emcee from Shady Records’ multi-platinum group, D12, he stands as a multifaceted artist with a distinctive identity and powerful message encompassing his myriad talents: songwriter, composer, singer, performer, visionary, leader, innovator, and underdog. Denaun is also hypeman to Eminem, and known as the 2x Grammy award-winning producer, “Mr. Porter” - a musical mastermind.
His journey has been paved with success, from chart topping singles to prestigious accolades, elevating his demand as a producer. HIs sonic palette continually evolves, leading him to collaborate with artists spanning genres, from Rapsody, Royce Da 5’9, and Jay Electronica, to icons like Eminem, Swizz Beatz, the late DMX, and music legends Sting, Burt Bacharach and others.
Denaun’s revolutionary sound threads through an impressive discography, producing hits for other renown artists such as Ludacris, Russ, Busta Rhymes, Robert Glasper, Jadakiss, Game, Snoop Dogg, Pharoahe Monch & more.
His contributions played a significant role in nearly 40 million records sold, combined. He also co-executive produced the RIAA certified Gold album, Bad Meets Evil, “Hell : The Sequel” and executive produced Royce Da 5’9’s 2016, “Layers” album, which debuted #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop albums chart.
Porter diversified his portfolio by adding film scoring to the line-up. His work can be heard in the end credits of “Fast 5” (Universal Pictures), and woven through the fabric of Rogue Picture’s film release “Waist Deep”. His work can also be heard in the 3rd season (2023) of the Epix/MgM+ drama series “Godfather of Harlem”. Denaun also produced the score for the red band movie trailer of the N.W.A. biopic, “Straight Outta Compton.”
Amidst it all, Denaun maintains a solo career, releasing compelling tracks through his independent label, Planit Dope, and his production company Mr. Porter Production Group. He is also one-third of the groundbreaking hip hop group, Read The PDF, alongside fellow Grammy Award winning producers Dem Jointz and Focus.
Collaborations with fellow artists and producers fuel his creativity, yielding projects untethered to his past, a testament to his musical and creative evolution. “The new projects have no attachment to anything old, nothing I’ve done before, Denaun states, “This is me being as creative as I’ve always wanted to be. It’s demonstrative of my evolution musically, creatively.”
